Juniper Dunes - Mar 6 2011

Hi guys, a group of us went out to the dunes sunday, a couple of the guys were testing new tube buggies they just finishedhttp://i758.photobucket.com/albums/xx224/4x4fabguy/101_1375.jpg

and we were all gathered around a dune, some catching a lil air..

And the friendly sheriffs came over to watch for a bit.

We talked for a while and they mentioned a new law that says if your rig is not street legal you and any passengers you may have must now wear helmets in that rig. He pointed to at least five rigs in our group he said should have helmets on but he was very nice to us and said no problems today but next time bring helmets. I bet that law will apply to non street legal rigs on the trail as well but I failed to ask. 2 guys showed up late and forgot their dune flags and unfortunatly chose to run anyway and came out looking for us, when the sheriff found them he was nice but did issue a single ticket for no flag that he said could be split between both guys, one bike and one truck. Pretty nice considering they both could have got one. Theres a $125.00 dollar reminder fee, lol, if you forget your flag. I hope they use that money for orv purposes. We played in the main dunes for a bit then headed out back to the bigger dunes.

while we sat and watched a guy came over to our group and said there was an injured rider near by so we called 911 and they said some of our guys should head to the scene and relay first hand what had happend and the condition of the rider and some of us should head to the parking lot to meet and tell the emt-rescue guys where the crash was. For some reason they could not reach the sheriffs out there. Kim in her jeep and me in my yota went to the parking lot and met the emts in their polaris rescue ranger and told them where the crash was.

As soon as we got back the Life flight heli was just landing.

The girl that crashed seemed to be in pretty good shape by then and I think she will be fine but we left before the heli took off so I am not sure if they took her or not. I hope shes ok, she was sitting up and talking to the emts. Overall it was a great day of wheeling, the new buggies worked great and the weather was perfect. I hope to head back out real soon for a bike ride. Fun place. One of my favorite places to ride for over 20 years. Heres some local wildlife..

Juniper is one of my favorite places to go.

I see Roger was out there in his Bronco. I see him out there almost every time I go. Roger Bronco does great in the sand and in the snow when he goes with us.

Yeah, I do hate to see anyone get hurt. I was sure impressed by how fast help showed up. Rogers bronco did great, It really made me want to fix mine. I miss the V-8 rumble but not the horrible mileage. That was my first time wheeling with Roger and his daughter in her jeep. Both very nice folks. I'm sure I will wheel with them again. He lives very close to me.

Thanks guys, some of the pics were taken by my wife and or brother in law. I really need to start taking more pics on our runs. I should have lots more good pics but I never seem to grab the camera when I should. The buggies worked very well. Very nice rides with an insane amount of work involved. No problems at all. That was the first ever run for the sami based buggy, he was very happy with his creation. Ceg, I hope I can make it out next time you guys head this way, and I will bring Roger and his daughter if their available. How often do you guys run at juniper?

How often do you guys run at juniper?I do not get out there as much as I like. I was going about twice a year but with the cost of living higher it has been over a year. I hope to get a better tow rig this summer and then I will come down.

The last time I was there I flatten some dunes.

Next time you guys go I'd like to meet you there. Used to wheel out there 20+yrs ago. Last time I was thee was for one of Al Yenney's Chili Feeds, maybe 1987? I was wheelin' a '67 Bronco with a big block on 36" Buckshots. It's about two and a half hours away and really the nearest place to go wheel. Call, PM, text or e-mail, I'll load up the Toy and come down.

Ok, I would be happy to. It sounds like you guys are due for a juniper trip. Its about time to go back out there before it gets too hot. Maybe a campout? Its fun to wheel out there in the dark. And I would love to take my bike and my truck. Anybody else interested in an overnight juniper trip? Might make it more worthwhile for those who have to travel so far.

I'm up for that, the truck has the camper on it and the trailer is still on, I have some minor stuff to do to the Toy. Maybe in the next weekend or so after the 4th of July.

Looks like maybe I can get to Juniper in October when it cools back down.

I'm in! I think I will throw the locked rearend under the Clapper instead of taking the Frankenyota and give it a try out there.The kids would have a blast if we camped out and Rosie could take her 4Runner too.let's pick a date and make it happen Mike.
