Wagons East! Naches Pass Trail 4x4 Run
Report & photos by Clay Graham / Eastern Washington Adventures

The Historic Naches Pass Wagon Trail is one of the most poplar trails in the Northwest. Some years we run this trail a few times during the time the west side is open. We really like to run this trail in the fall after the dust is gone and we do it in the opposite direction of the settlers for more of a challenge climbing the west end.

At 10 AM Saturday October 13th, 2012 Eastern Washington Adventures members met up at intersection of NF19 and FS1914 for the annual "Wagons East! Naches Pass Trail 4x4 Run". After letting some air out of our tires, we headed across Pyramid Pass with 6 rigs and met up with Mario at the end of the Naches Pass 4x4 Trail on FS70.

We took a hike down to see the cliff where the Longmire Party lowered their wagons down in October 1853. We hiked back up to start the 4x4 part of the run.

We stopped to see the sights along the way as we made our way East on the Naches Pass 4x4 Trail.

At FS1913 a few rigs headed for home and the rest of us finished the tight part of the trail.

Here are some pictures I took of our trip:

Meeting up on FS1914 right off of FS19.

On the west end of the Naches Pass 4x4 Trail we walked down to see the Naches Cliff where the Longmire Party lowered their wagons in October 1853.

    Little Bald Mountain Backroads Trip
Report & photos by Clay Graham / Eastern Washington Adventures

Sunday August 19th, 2012 I took the family for a backroads run up to Little Bald Mountain to get out of the valley heat.

We headed east on SR-410. In Nile Valley we took FS1600 and headed up to Little Bald Mountain.

At Little Bald Mountain we took in the views. It was kind of hazy but was able to see Mount Rainier.

We signed in at the shelter and headed back down the mountain.

Along the way we saw some sheep following a motorcycle. The sheep stopped and went up the hill as the motorcycle past us.

    We ...

    Leavenworth Backroads Adventure
Report & photos by Clay Graham / Eastern Washington Adventures

On Wednesday August 15th, 2012 Foxracer and I headed out from the Naneum Ridge State Forest Backroads Run parting from Toy Man near Wenatchee to continue our Eastern Washington adventure around the Leavenworth area.

We stopped in the town Leavenworth around 5:30 PM. We parked at the Northeast side of town and walked through the Bavarian village to the München Haus for dinner. It was nice to sit in the biergarten under the misters on this hot day.

After dinner we wen back to our rigs to get our growlers and then got them topped of at the Icicle Brewery.

Next we head out of town on Icicle Road to go find a campsite. We found a very cool campsite near the end of the road. Map

On Thursday August 16th, 2012 Foxracer and I headed back through Leavenworth to go explore some backroads Northeast of town.

We headed up Darby Canyon Road (FS7400) from Peshastin and drove up to Chumstick Mountain. The views was great. After a short break and cell calls to our families, we headed back down the mountain to US-2 by the way of FS7415 & FS7412. This route dropped us near Cashmere.

Naneum Ridge State Forest Backroads Run
Report & photos by Clay Graham / Eastern Washington Adventures

Around 10 AM on Wednesday August 15th, 2012 Foxracer and I from Eastern Washington Adventures and Toy Man from Pacific Northwest Backroad Adventures met up at the Shell Station in Kittitas for the Naneum Ridge State Forest Backroads Run.

Foxracer lead the way to the Naneum Ridge State Forest and we headed in on Coleman Road. We went up Dawson Canyon, turned up Boulder Road, did a loop around part of the Naneum Basin, up Swift Creek Road and then up to Wenatchee Mountain.

The views from Wenatchee Mountain were great. Off the North side you can see Wenatchee and the South you can see Ellensburg. Ellensburg was hard to see because of the smoke from the Taylor Bridge Fire. Along the top of the ridge to the Northwest you could be Mission Ridge Ski Area.

Next we headed Southeast across Naneum Ridge and turn down Jumpoff Ridge. Down at the end near the pavement we took in the view of Wenatchee before dropping down into town.

Toy Man headed back home to Oregon and we headed onto part two of the trip: Leavenworth Backroads Adventure - Aug 16 2012

This was a very fun day thanks to the guys who came. I can't wait to do and run there.

    2012 Ahtanum State Forest Camp-out & Clean-up
Report by Clay Graham / Eastern Washington Adventures
Photos by Clay Graham , Charlie Graham, Doc Graham & Amanda Graham / Eastern Washington Adventures

On Tuesday July 24th, 2012 members of Eastern Washington Adventures started showing up for the annual Ahtanum State Forest Camp-out and Clean-up. The event is hosted by the Yakima/Kittitas Forest Watch Association (the Non-profit division of Eastern Washington Adventures).

On Wednesday we headed out with three Jeeps (Ceg, Rangerat & Foxracer) to do maintenance on the Blue Lake 4x4 Trail, 4W613 and everything in between. We got back to camp around 7 PM. Guido came that evening to camp for the rest of the week. Craigen came up to visit us that night.

On Thursday we headed out with four Jeeps (Ceg, Rangerat, Foxracer & Guido) to do maintenance on the Whites Ridge 4x4 Trail and repair the Green Dot Markers on all the roads on Whites Ridge. Rangerat took off for home that evening.

Friday morning Foxracer had to leave for work. We headed out with two Jeeps (Ceg & Guido) and a quad (for the Ceg boys to share) to do maintenance on the Sedge Ridge 4x4 Trail and repair the Green Dot Markers on all the roads on Sedge Ridge. Jeepscum and TJ40 came and set up camp when we were gone.

Saturday morning more people showed up to help with the clean-up. We took off in groups to pick up trash across the Ahtanum State Forest. My group also did some Green Dot Repair work. That evening we had a potluck dinner.

On Sunday we packed up and headed home.

This was a very fun week thanks to all who came out. Thank you all for volunteering at this event.

On Thursday May 31st, 2012 we took a family trip up to check out some camp spots for future events.

Fist we went up to the Nile to see if road FS1601 was open to get to one of the camp spots we had a two years ago. The road is closed due to the May 2011 washout.

Next we took at drive around checking out other areas to camp near Saw Mill Flats. We found a few we liked and then headed out.

Headed east on SR410 we saw some Long Horn Sheep along the road. We stopped ...

Wenas Wildlife Area: End of Year Run
Report by Clay Graham / Eastern Washington Adventures

Around 10 AM Saturday December 31st, 2011 Eastern Washington Adventures members met up at the Sheep Company Road entrance of the Wenas Wildlife Area for the End of year run. I rode with BlindPilot in his TJ. This was more of a backroads sightseeing run this year since there was not much snow.

First we explored Rosa Creek Road to the end. Next we ran the Umtanum Ridge Road to the Southeast to check out the views over looking the Yakima River. Next we ran Umtanum Ridge road to the west. We dropped down into Black Canyon and then back up to Umtanum Ridge road again. We continued following Umtanum Ridge to the Northwest and dropped down to near the end of the pavement on North Wenas Road. We ran the pavement down by Wenas Lake to ran a green dot road back up to Umtanum Ridge. The first road we tried was Kelly Hollow but it was closed. Next we drove of Hessler Road to find it was closed at the end. We turned around and drive back out. Tealtard headed for home and we decided to run the Wenas Pass for something to do. On the Ellensburg side we turned up Durr Road and ran it out to Sheep Company Road. We aired up and headed out. TJ40 when home and the rest of us went to the Eastern Washington Adventures Club House for the New Year's ...

    Rimrock Christmas Tree Backroads Run
Report and photos by Clay Graham / Eastern Washington Adventures

About 10 AM on Saturday December 3rd, 2011 we met up at Oak Creek Ace Hardware for the annual Eastern Washington Adventures Christmas Tree Backroads Run with Pacific Northwest Backroads Adventures. On this day we had five Fords (Demontang, Demontang's Dad, Havo, Jerry & Ceg) and one Jeep (Alan).

We convoyed west on US12 past Rimrock Lake. We turned off on Tieton Road and drove past Clear Lake to FS1207. FS1207 had a snow berm blocking the road so we could not get Christmas trees there this year.

We headed on around Rimrock Lake. The road was very slick. One part was iced over and Demontang slid side ways. We turn up FS1000 to go look for Christmas trees. A few miles in we stopped because Demontang seen a good area to go look for trees. Demontang found out his 4 wheel drive did not work. He said he could fix it.

Havo went up the road to a flatter area. A few of us moved up to where he was. Havo's and Alan's families found the themselves nice Christmas trees. Once they had their Christmas trees tied ...
