    2011 Selah Community Days Parade
Report and photos by Clay Graham / Eastern Washington Adventures

On Saturday May 21st, 2011 we headed to down town Selah Washington to watch the Selah Community Days Parade.
There was a big turn out of watchers and many in the parade. The rain came and some of the watchers left. We had a
pop-up so we did not get to wet. I was not able to get a picture of everyone but here are 164 pictures of the parade.

We were up in front of Pizza Hut. See the blue pop-up near the tree? We were on the north side of that tree.

My daughter was in walking with this group.

I got up at 6am, took the motorhome down to the park at 7am and parked it. I then hiked over to Pizza Hut and set up a couple of chairs around 7:30am. My wife hauled my daughter and a friend down to Save-On Foods at 9am for the parade, and hit McDonalds for our breakfast and met me at our chairs just before 10am. After my daughter and two of her friends finished up in the parade, they came and joined us until 11:15am, and then they headed to the motorhome so my daughter could change into her Footlites dance costume for a performance at 12:15pm. I watched the parade until around 11:45am and then went to the motorhome to drop the chairs. We watched my daughter dance, and then retreated to the motorhome where we fixed some sandwiches for lunch. We played a few rounds of Uno and then bugged out since the weather was still a little iffy.

The rain first came around 11am I'd guess... just sprinkles at first and since we were under a tree, it wasn't affecting us. By the time my daughter danced, it was pouring rain. Again, I was under a tree watching so it wasn't a big deal. While in the motorhome, we listened to the rain come down for quite awhile. It seemed to be letting up, and maybe had quit, by the time we left. My daughter really wanted to go ride the rides but we told her she was better off to wait until Sunday when the weather would be better.

(And on Sunday it was spectacular. Not only was the weather sunny... my daughter ended up with some really BAD burns [due to poor parenting on our part I guess]... but there were no crowds at the carnival and she never had to wait in line for a ride.)

Overall a great Selah Days event.
